The second-generation Chevrolet Bel Air, widely known as the "Hot One," stands as one of the most iconic American designs of the mid-1950s. For 1957, the V8's displacement grew to 283 cubic inches, and its output reached 283 horsepower—equal to the Corvette of that same period.
This particular Bel Air coupe has received one thorough restoration and now wears its factory-correct two-tone combination of Highland Green over Surf Green. The odometer reads 80,750 miles. From 2017 through 2019, the body, paint, interior, seals, exhaust, brakes, and fuel system were all refreshed. The result is a highly presentable car that is not completely perfect but still looks very good.
Mechanically, the numbers-matching 283ci V8 received a complete rebuild. It is mated to an upgraded 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, enabling relaxed 55 MPH cruising at only 1500 RPM. The engine fires up right away, idles smoothly, tracks straight, and there are no known issues, making this Bel Air a great choice for any collector or enthusiast.
